We have a permanent full time employment opportunity in our Purchasing Department for a Buyer. This position reports to the Manager, Purchasing.
The successful candidate will procure inventory for assigned suppliers with a focus on ensuring an uninterrupted supply of goods at optimum cost, achieving targeted services levels and supporting the effective implementation of merchandising plans/initiatives.
Replenishes and forecasts the movement of assigned items with the focus on optimizing the service levels, buying multiples, seasonality, turns, delivery and cost of goods. In consultation with customer product manager establishes merchandising forecasts) as required.
Analyzes historical and current data pertaining to regular, promotional and seasonal item movement to establish realistic forecasts.
Plans the procurement of inventory with a focus on effectively utilizing allocated space within the warehouse and obtaining optimal cost from supplier.
Communicates established policies, procedures, and standards to key stakeholders (ie. Suppliers, customer product manager, warehouse, and traffic) and ensures that key issues/concerns with procurement and delivery of items are dealt with pro-actively.
Liaises with suppliers to address supply continuity issues and disputes. Forwards unresolved concerns/issues to Customer Product Manager.
Maintains vendor information (ie. Calendars, brackets) and item data to ensure that information is processed accurately and expediently.
Partners with key stakeholders (eg. Merchandising, supply chain) to solicit expertise, explore opportunities, present recommendations and to ensure the effective implementation of approved merchandising strategies/initiatives.
Enforces Overwaitea Food Group Inbound Freight Policy with Suppliers/Carrier.
Automated purchasing systems (e.g. A-series)

Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
Retail, Purchasing and/or Merchandising experience is an asset.
Post secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
Completion of PMAC Level 1 or equivalent work experience.
