General Manager Langley

 

 

PURPOSE:

Under limited supervision, the General Manager plans, directs and supervises work activities, customer satisfaction, profitability and the day-to-day operations and management of the operations.  The Manager is also responsible for identifying profitable market segments and business opportunities as well as maintaining solid relationships with existing customers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create and maintain strong customer relations. Attend meetings with City officials and Customers and act as a company liaison with various governing bodies and/or key influencers.

Direct day-to-day operations by overseeing scheduling, routing, billing and accounting, payroll, inventory control, maintenance and other activities.

Communicate with employees regarding branch and company goals, objectives and policies.

Prepare weekly and monthly reports, administer budget and plan fiscal budget. Control all financial matters in the branches.

Oversee administration and compliance with company policy; resolve employee relations and/or concerns.

Hire, coach and provide day-to-day leadership to staff ensuring recruitment practices conform to company policy and employment legislation. Monitor employee turnover and proactively manage staff requirements.

Maintain all company policies and procedures. Measure performance and customer service levels.

Ensure maintenance programs are completed in a cost efficient, timely manner. Ensure equipment is safe, clean and dependable.

Ensure branch compliance with all safety training, standards and requirements.  Investigate, analyse and monitor unsafe incidents/accidents and implement effective remedial action in conjunction with safety personnel. Ensure that safety is of the utmost importance; responsible for maintaining company standards and improving performance. 

Maintain an ongoing relationship with Union representatives; maintain monthly labour management meetings.

 

EDUCATION/LICENCES:

University degree or equivalent combination of education and operational experience.

Class Two “with air endorsement” vehicle licences preferred.

 

Experience Knowledge:

Transit Management Experience required (start up experience is an asset)

Accounting and excellent communication and customer service skills are a must; relationship building skills in a Unionized environment are essential. 

Proficiency in computer software a must (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc

Experience with scheduling/dispatch software is desirable.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Based in the Langley, BC office with some travel to off-site events and training.
